The paper will be about my experiment which is torsion test. Objectives: This lab has two objectives:
1. To collect torsion test data for at least two rods of the same unknown material to understand its material properties better
2. To consider possible applications for the unknown material, based on the data found from the first part of the experiment and the general information about the class of material being used.
– To write about the torsion test experiment. General ideas. Compare about old steel 1045, new 1045, new 6061, old 4140.
Brief Background ( Introduction ) ( must be in passive voice)
– Torque, Shear stress-strain, modulus of rigidity G, maximum shear stress and strain,  angle of twist. Stress- strain curve ( OLD STEEL 1045 )
Photos and description of equipment of the whole torsion test
– You can find it through Tinius Olsen Universal tester
– Put up images of the machine and explain how it works but also, explain a little more about the equipment is set up, how to load up the specimen for a torsion test, how the specimen is shaped to help with the loading and what errors you expect from mistakes with the setup (centering errors, slippage, looseness in the grip resulting in zero errors etc.).
