Design Your Process for Becoming a ‘World‐Class’ Engineering Student
You will “Design Your Process for Becoming a ‘World‐Class’ Engineering Student.” You should start this design process at the beginning of the semester, and add to it throughout the semester as you learn more about architectural and civil engineering. Engineers “design products or processes to meet desired needs within realistic constraints.” (ABET). In civil engineering, most of the focus is on designing infrastructure; in architectural engineering your focus is on designing buildings and/or their components. Through this project you will design a process.
Task:
For each of the following items, develop a plan that will indicate:
a. Where a “world‐class” engineering student would want to be on each item
b. Where you are currently on each item
c. What you need to do to move from where you are to where you would need to be to become a
“world-class” engineering student
The required items fall into four general groups: goal setting, community building, academic
development, and personal development.
