Part 1. Identify a Problem or Need
Identify a need that is impacting an individual, group or institution in your community or in your intended field of study. Please write 1-2 paragraphs on the need you identified, which you will continue to explore and develop in all parts of this project. Note: You might find going to the end of the page on the www.globalgoals.org website helpful in
identifying some ideas of different needs. You may also find it helpful to talk with those who have knowledge of the need you identified or who may know of some needs in your community or intended area of study.

Part 2. Research the Problem or Need
Find any information you can about the problem or need you have chosen including local media, local professional association’s efforts in relation to the issue, any national advocacy groups that might have addressed the problem elsewhere. You should identify any local, state, and national laws or policies that are impacting this issue.  You can also look at journals, other media sources and professional association newsletters to see if the problem has been written about.  This step should produce a list of information resources. The list should include at least two local community sources, two state sources, three national sources, and a professional association resource.
Part 3. Write a Proposal
Bring together all the information from parts 1 and 2 including evidence of the need and all research/information relating to the issue. Write up an overview of the need/issue and then create a proposal with action points for what you (and if it applies your community) could do to address the problem or need. These should be specific, concrete actions. You should identify who could be involved in taking these actions and what the desired outcomes would be (these should be measurable). You should have at least 3 action points.  Your proposal should be about 3-5 pages and should reference your resource list from part 2.
Part 4. Present One Action Point
For this final part you will discuss through a narrated PowerPoint of the action points in your proposal. Share what steps you would take leading up to executing the action point. You should include in your PPT an example of a pamphlet, brochure, poster, letter to an organization and/or any other pertinent documentation related to the action point presented. Your PowerPoint presentation should be at least five slides and should include comments in the comments section to narrate what you would say if you were giving this presentation in a live classroom setting.
Note: You will not actually execute the action point for this service learning project. Rather discussing and presenting the action point in preparation of the next step, which would be to execute the action point.
