Observation Report and Map Requirements

1. Observation Report and Map Requirements
Observe the Supermarket IN CBD-central business district AREA IN Shanghai. Make sure it has a good level of human traffic. Observe the differences in how this place is used at each visit. Map this location and make notes on its use: keep a diary with at least 1 entry/week for at least 5 weeks. Present a report in which you point out points of interest like flow of traffic, places of congregation, socially significant markers, differences in use, etc.  Make an anthropological statement about the social expectations that influence behaviour in this place.
HAVE TO FINISH THOSE 7 POINTS!
1. Where and who are you observing? When were you there?
Where: Supermarket IN CBD-central business district AREA IN Shanghai
When: every Friday and Sunday (2pm—9pm)
2. Describe in detail the physical setting in which you observed – pretend that the reader has never been to such a place before and be specific (e.g., how big is the room in feet and inches? How many tables, chairs, desks are there?). Maps and diagrams are helpful. You can embed photographs/screenshots if you find this helpful. High-end supermarket Named(Fresh Hema– Parent Company alibaba)
3. What are the stated rules regulating behavior in this setting? Give this some thought as this is a central feature of ethnography and cultural anthropology. Base this on observations
not generalizations. —please writing their buying behaviour!
4. What are the unstated rules regulating behavior in this setting? Give this some thought as this is a central feature of ethnography and cultural anthropology. Base this on observations not generalizations. 5. Note general patterns of behavior, speech, interaction – what are most people doing most of the time? (This is what I meant by “general summaries” above).
6. Describe those observed in general terms: how many of them are there, what are the gender/ethnicity/linguistic divisions, are there other characteristic that distinguish them as a group (uniforms, physical characteristics, et al.). —Almost urban white-collars workers
7. Reflect on your own feelings and thoughts while you were in this setting.

Advice:

-Use time index, duration is essential to note.
-Limit observations to “prolonged” “social” interactions (“prolonged” implies the same few
people for the entire 15 minutes, not someone taking orders at a fast food restaurant; “social” implies that you must observe people involved with other people – the focus of your observation is the social interactions of others compensating for others.
