Dear Minister [XXX],
I am writing to express my extreme concern at lack of response from your department relating to Child Protection client Finnigan S—-.
Finnigan’s mother, Ms S—- has been my patient since December 2019. She expresses grave concerns for her son Finnigan who is 12 years old. Finnigan exhibits all the symptoms of a conduct disorder and autism. Finnigan is clearly a high-risk youth. He is not enrolled in school, he refuses to stay inside at night and is associating with local criminals and drug users. He is using alcohol. He has recently been arrested for violence and significant property damage. Finnigan urgently needs a psychological assessment and substance abuse intervention. He is likely to
suffer irreparable harm and death if he is not contained. Ms Sm— has constantly requested assistance from Child Protection. Team Manager Ms Heidi Wang promised Ms S — Finnigan would receive counselling however she has not organized this. Ms Wang has also sought assistance to enroll Finnigan in school however this has not occurred. Of further concern Ms S—– is shortly to become homeless as she, her daughter and son are about to be evicted from their property.
This child is being denied his rights to education, shelter and safety. Please take urgent action in relation to this situation.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Martin Righteous
