2. Describe the identity statuses identified by Marcia. Think back to your adolescence and identify the groups and individual people that had the most effect on your sense of identity and self. Using Marcia’s identity statuses identify which categories you experienced in high school and the order you went through them.
3. In the distant past, becoming an adult was fairly clear: in late adolescence girls and boys married and assumed an adult role. Today’s youth are faced with the dilemma of not knowing when they have officially become an adult because we have fewer clear-cut initiation rites into adulthood. Describe characteristics of adults you recognized during your adolescence. Do you still ascribe these same characteristics to adults? Explain.
4. Describe positive “initiations” into adulthood that you experienced yourself or that you observed for others. Do these “initiation rite” still exist? Explain.
