Archaeology of a contemporary room
Archaeology of a contemporary room
Your task for this assignment is to select one (1) room where you live and analyze it with an archaeological eye. You must take stock of everything that is in the room, the placement of furniture, the arrangement of objects, the dimensions of the room itself, etc.; however, like all archaeological sites, your archaeological record is incomplete. The room that you have uncovered has undergone “average” preservation conditions.
As such, all that remains for your consideration are objects made from stone, glass, ceramic, metal, or plastic. Anything organically- derived in the selected room has not been preserved by the time of your excavation and, as such, cannot be used in your analysis. This means that any cloth, paper (including cardboard), leather, wood (including particle board), food, or wax cannot be considered.
