Scenario:
My client is a 44-year-old female and medical assistant. My client graduated from high school and went straight to technical school to become a medical assistant. My client felt the pressure to go straight to the workforce due to being a mother already. Income and stability were a priority. My client worked as a medical assistant for over 23 years. Due to the pandemic and her health issues my client was forced into an early retirement. My client would like to become an multi entrepreneur. My client has sought out professional help from a Career Guidance Counselor to help guide her through this journey. To help motivate her to find what would be a perfect fit for her and should she start a business now. My client is interested in starting an online boutique and party rental business. I have attached a copy of the assessment that my client completed. I will use the finished paper as a guide to conduct my counseling session’s.
We are not doing individual reports for each session we complete. We’re doing a report on the entire encounter with the client (all 3 sessions). Explain what client came in looking for and goals of counseling. Explain what you gathered through the framework of theory you chose. Explain any recommendations and/or referrals you gave. Explain options and choices you gave clients.
Career Counseling Project. This comprehensive activity will give you the opportunity
to develop practical experience in applying theory, utilizing career-counseling activities,
interpreting assessment tools, and using career information.
You will interview an individual for at least 3 (35 to 45-min) sessions regarding his/her career related background, current realities and ambitions. Utilize career counseling assessment tools and activities to assist this person in exploring his or her career development (minimum of one assessment is required). Provide sources of occupational information to this individual to assist him/her in making career decisions. Write a report summarizing/analyzing your sessions and include (in the appendix) copies of all activities/information shared with the client.
Each session should be recorded and uploaded to brightspace. The final project submitted via brightspace should include all 3 sessions, title page, APA-style report analyzing each session, reference page, and APPENDIX.
Example of how my session interviews will follow:
Session 1
Introduce yourself, get informed consent and explain informed consent, ask what the client is looking for, ask how you could help the client, explain how you work, explain what kinds of assessments you might have them take, and figure out together a goal for counseling
Session 2
Have the client take the assessment before the second session or if they need help, help them take the assessment. Explain the results and explore what they mean.
Session 3
Continue explanation of results if need be and answer any questions they may have. Give final recommendations and referrals. Complete termination of sessions.
