Climate change, air pollution- Explain
Emergent properties (or synergistic effects) are cases in which multiple interacting factors have consequences that are more than the
sum of their individual parts. For example, the future of the ocean ecosystem is in peril not only because of overfishing, habitat
destruction from bottom trawling, eutrophication from fertilizers, acidification from climate change, other potential thermal effects of
global warming (like changes in ocean currents)…
There is a risk that hose individual factors will interact with each other in ways that we don’t yet fully understand. Without repeating this example, choose any two or three individual concepts featured in chapters 11-17 (biological diversity, invasive species, habitat destruction,
restoration ecology, geological resources, climate change, air pollution, freshwater resource management) and explain how those
concepts could interact to produce emergent properties. Your response should be one paragraph (minimum) to two paragraphs (maximum). Full credit essays will be well organized and cohesive, with specific examples to illustrate each argument.
