1. Referring again to your organization’s vision, mission, objectives and values, think about the topics from this unit. If you believe there are some areas that could be changed to make the compensation strategy and initiatives more consistent you're their vision, mission, objectives, and values what would they be? What alternatives might they consider? For example, should they consider an individual or group incentive plan in addition to seniority pay? What might that look like?
2. Merit pay plans are commonly used in today’s organizations. However, sometimes these systems may not be a fit for all types of work. Based on your knowledge of merit pay systems, identify at least three jobs/roles for which merit pay might be inappropriate. Be sure to provide your reasoning? How might you make them appropriate? What has been your experience with Merit pay plans? How might you suggest the organization improve their system to be more “ideal” per the textbook?
3. List the different types of performance appraisal instruments that you have been exposed to in your career. What were their strengths and weaknesses? Were the strengths and weaknesses due to human error or flaws in the instrument? How might you suggest improving the process or instrument?
