Students are required to complete one, 10-page book review “No visible bruises by Rachel Louise Snyder”. Students must submit their book reviews through the D2L course site. The book review will be checked electronically for plagiarism. Students must adhere to the following guidelines: • Use 12 point Times New Roman font. • Use 1” margins. • Be double spaced. • Have a title page that includes the title of your paper, name of the book reviewed, your name, quarter of submission (the title page DOES NOT COUNT toward the final paper length). • Include sources outside of the book reviewed. You must cite at least five other course materials, including class discussions/lectures and readings. These materials must be properly cited within your paper and the reference page described in more detail below. You may also use sources outside of those reviewed in class, but these are not required and do not count toward the five course materials. • Include a reference page and in-text citations for materials cited (the reference page DOES NOT COUNT toward the final paper length). • The 10th page must have text that covers 3/4th of the page to be considered complete • NO QUOTES are allowed.
The book review structure should be as follows:
I. Introduction to the paper (~ 1 page)
II. Summary description of the book’s main themes that connect to the course content, including issues and challenges victims experienced (~4 pages)
III. Potential policy or practice solutions to the main themes and issues noted in item II (~4 pages)
IV. Conclusion (~1 page) Please note, the books are lengthy, so students are encouraged to select a book early during the quarter so they have enough time to complete the book review.
