- Include a catch statement or phrase that will lead into the thesis; something to grab the reader’s attention (this can be the first sentence, too).
- Identify and state the thesis statement
2. The Body of the Paper/Main Points (Please include several paragraphs about the topic you are presenting):
- Tell me about the theorist; give a timeline of how he/she got to the theories being discussed. Please include a little history and perspective as to why and how these theoretical and curricular ideas developed.
- What does your theorist do in regards to a profession?
- Explain the ideas behind the theory/theorist/perspective. Define the theory and give details. This is a key part of the paper.
- Explain how the ideas fit with a classroom and education, in general. What is the impact on student learning?
- Give specific and detailed examples.
3. Write several paragraphs discussing the main ideas of the theorists.
- Define the main idea in a paragraph or two.
- How does this idea reflect child development principles and theories, in general.
