Is this collection of people CEO CIO CFO COO and President of Human Resources a group or team Explain
Is this collection of people (CEO Jesse, CIO Rolanda, CFO Susan, COO Alejandro, and President of Human Resources Emeka) a group or team? Explain. Jesse (CEO) started his own software company about 15 years ago. He and his leadership team (Chief Information Officer Rolanda, Chief Operating Officer Susan, Chief Financial Officer Alejandro, and President of Human Resources Emeka) recently took the company public so that they could raise the capital needed to grow the business to a larger scale and become even more profitable. Rolanda supported Jesse’s vision to go public from the start, but Susan, Alejandro, and Emeka initially told Jesse that they should either wait or not make the transition. Susan said that all the moving parts and change would scare away the talented employees who made the company successful. Alejandro said that the company would end up running at a loss for at least a few quarters. And Emeka said that there wasn’t enough talent in the job market at the time for them to grow. As such, Jesse had to obtain buy-in from them before making the transition. The conversations took weeks in and of themselves, and without Rolanda’s support and energy, it may not have been possible to sustain the conversations and convince the other three to buy in to the transition. Throughout the transition from a private company to a public one, Jesse motivated and supported everyone by articulating his vision and obtaining resources needed to grow and adapt.
