An internet resource must be used here to describe the patient’s psychiatric diagnosis(es) and pertinent theoretical linkages; what does the research indicate regarding etiology of the patient’s diagnosis?
- Compares and contrasts the DSM 5 defining criteria with this patient’s clinical manifestations that resulted in this hospitalization. For example; if the patient is diagnosed with major depression, describe how your patient meets the criteria for that diagnosis.
- Describes the medications the patient has been prescribed (include dose, route, time, etc .) States other pertinent physiological findings (i.e., necessary assessments and/or laboratory values associated with the medication regime). Use an internet resource here to list the important patient teaching concerning the medication regime.
- Discusses the psychosocial therapies offered to your patient while hospitalized. Which theoretical concepts are linked to these therapies? Are these therapies efficacious? Look on the internet and find alternative therapies used with this particular patient and diagnosis.
- States the primary (priority) nursing diagnosis. Compare your priority with the priority problem discussed in the patient’s chart.
- States the appropriate outcome criteria and appropriate time frames for each criterion. Criteria must be measurable. Must state at least one short term goal and at least one long term goal.
- States the critical nursing interventions that are pertinent in helping the patient reach his or her goals. Describe how these compare to the interventions used during the patient’s hospitalization?
- Evaluates the outcome criteria. Did the patient reach his or her goals? If not, what changes in the care plan do you suggest?
