Brittany Maynard, aged 29 years, was married for 1 year when she was diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer, discovered she had approximately 6 months to live, and did not want her family to watch her suffering with pain during her dying process. After a long discussion with her physicians, her husband, and other family members, she decided to move from California to Oregon to take advantage of the Death with Dignity Act.
