However, as we’ve seen in this course, connections among societies and many other aspects of what we think of today as globalization have a long history and are not particularly new. What (if anything) distinguishes contemporary globalization? In short, exactly what is new about contemporary globalization, and what is not? Discuss at least three specific examples or features of globalization: two that support your argument, and one that could support the counter argument (In other words, if, overall, you emphasize what is new about contemporary globalization, two of your examples should demonstrate new trends or developments, but one of them must show an aspect of globalization that has deeper historical roots; if you emphasize continuity and argue that most of what we associate with globalization developed over a longer time period, do the reverse.)
