- For example, you can analyze greeting cards; picture books; postcards, billboards, one week’s worth of news stories; fairy tales; movies such as Harry Potter; Hunger Games or the Twilight series; sports films, soap operas; sitcom shows, films about teachers or any other TV shows you watch or even the CNN news; curriculum – textbooks read by your child; popular novels; toy store aisles; video games; technology; gendered use of social media etc. for gender bias, stereotypes, the ways in which gender stereotypes are broken or how some newer books go beyond the gender binary or gender lessons that we can learn. Remember that gender is always intersecting with race, class and sexuality and disability and nationality to name a few.
